Chapter 20: Frozen Body
~Woande's P.O.V.~
I awake to the sound of Cadarum in the living room. I go to the door, open it, and see him talking to someone at the door. I keep the door open only enough to see them with one eye and I try to listen to the conversation. I hear them talking about... Food? Ugh. I thought it would be more interesting, but he is just talking about pizza. And I can hear Marcus as well. I then close my door and sit in the rocking chair by the dresser. Once I don't hear them anymore, I walk out and Cadarum sees me.
"Hello Gorgeous. Did I wake you? I'm sorry." Says Cadarum with a sweeter than usual tone.
"It's okay. I just woke up and now I can't go back to sleep." I say with a hint of boredom in my voice.
"Well...I know something we can do."
The mischevious look from before comes back as he speaks. Cadarum goes to the lantern on the table and dims the light. Then he walks over to me. I know what he's trying to do, and I am not going to do any of it.
" Cadarum? What are you doing? If it's what I think your trying to do, it won't work. I'm not that type of girl." I say, crossing my arms.
It seems as if he didn't hear me, though. He has a mischevious look in his eyes as he stands there looking straight at me. I start feeling awkward as he looks me up and down. He takes a few steps toward me. My heart is beating so fast I fear it will bounce right out of my chest. After what seems like minutes of silence, he finally speaks.
"I know... " He says, slighty disappointed. "Can I at least kiss you? Then maybe we can go for a late night stroll?" He say, smiling a bit mischeviously. I dont know what his plan is but I guess I can't fight his requests forever, so I reply.
"I suppose." I say finally.
Cadarum then gets closer and closer to me. I back up and hit the wall. My breathing stops momentarily. He then lifts my chin up and our lips make contact. He kisses me for a few seconds until we both pull away. He stares into my eyes. He then puts his lips near my ear and whispers.
"You can breathe now." I then realize that I was holding my breathe. I breathe and he chuckles slighty. Then, taking a step back, he looks at me and speaks.
"Why don't you go and get your swimsuit on? And wear your cover and maybe we'll take a swim on our stroll." Cadarum says, before he walks to his room, winking at me before closing his door.
I walk into my room. I stand there for a second and let my breathing get back to normal. After my breathing calms down I look through the dresser, find my swimsuit, and quickly change. Then we go on our stroll. The beach is even more beautiful at night . The sand is white and reflecting the moonlight. The waves are crashing onto the shore, the moonlight shining off the waters surface. The moon full and bright push and pull of the waves illuminates the pure white beach. As I am lost in the sight and sounds of the beach, Cadarum scoops me up and starts running to the waves. Once he gets to the water, he throws me in. The water is very cold and my body almost freezes from the sudden temperature change. I quickly get up and get out of the freezing ocean. I stand on the beach shivering and my teeth chattering from the cold. Cadarum stands in the water laughing at his lttle trick. Then looks at me and sees how shaky I am.
"Woande! Oh no you'll get hypothermia! I'm so sorry! I'm so stupid! Come on let's get you into dry clothes and get you all warmed up!" Cadarum says worriedly. He runs over to me and picks me up. He then runs back to our beach residence, carrying me.
When we get inside, he sets me down. I quickly head to my room and, once inside, I close my door so I can get dressed.
"Woande let me help you." Cadarum says; worry in his voice.
"I'm okay. I am almost done anyway." I reply.
Once I'm in dry and in warm clothes, I go to the living room and see Cadarum with a cup of warm tea and the fire place lit. I go sit on the couch and he hands me the tea. He then sits next to me and wraps his arms and a blanket around me to help warm me up. I have already stopped shaking. After a few minutes of silence he speaks.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't know the water would be that cold. I'll never do it again. I'm sorry, Princess." He says, as he puts his head in his hands in regret.
"It's okay, I'm fine now. Next time we go for a stroll, lets just avoid the water." I say with a laugh to try and lighten the situation, although, I fail.
Cadarum apologizes once more then picks me up and takes me to my room. He puts me in my bed, tucks me in, and then kisses me goodnight. He then goes into his own room.
"Great, now he's gonna be really protective over me. I can tuck myself in, but now I'll probably be given 'special treatment.' Ugh, hopefully it won't last long." I quietly say to myself; pouting to myself as well.
I lay in bed and think for a while, then I turn to face the window and look outside. My window faces the sea. As I look, I can see the sky slightly getting lighter. So I try to watch the sunrise, but fail as I drift off into a deep sleep. As I sleep, I dream of the kiss Cadarum and I shared. Well... it felt as if he wasn't sharing a kiss, but stealing one from me, and I can't help but want more. I promised myself I would wait, but...with Cadarum's mischevious side and the look in his eyes, I don't know what will happen. I do know that those few seconds were filled with mystery, passion, and love. I wish I could have another moment like that; how he seemed so rough by pinning me against the door, yet so soft by lifting my chin and kissing me the way he did. Even though it was full of passion, it was still soft and sweet and...Short. Too short almost, but I can't just break my promise...not yet, at least.
And with that , I dream of what the future is sure to hold for me and Cadarum with our relationship, Flerbery's and my powers as they grow each day, and of what it will be like once I finally meet my mother. Soon, I will know the truth. And, soon, something is bound to happen. It's just the matter of whether it will be good or bad...
